To establish a handicap you must complete at least one Handicap Eligible round of golf.
A Handicap Eligible round is 18 holes ONLINE (Peer-to-peer round or Tournament round) stroke play on an eligible course with a Slope and Rating.
We use the USGA official slope and ratings. If you look up the course and find the slope and rating we match those up by tee. Not all tee's match up perfectly for all courses. Some courses have more or less tee boxes and we attempt to map them as accurately as possible.
The following courses are not Handicap Eligible because they don't have a USGA equivalent slope or rating:
All the par 3 tee's are unofficial and don't have a slope and rating and as a result are not eligible for Handicap rounds.
- Sweet Magnolia
- Firth of Forth
- Old Scot
- Melbourne Golf Club
- Capitol Club
- Fylde Links
A "Handicap Differential" is the difference between a player's gross score and the USGA Course Rating of the course on which the score was made, multiplied by 113, then divided by the Slope Rating from the tees played and rounded to the nearest tenth, e.g., 12.8.
A single round on an eligible course will establish a player with a handicap.
The average of your lowest rounds handicap differential are used to calculate your handicap. When the total is 20 rounds the best 10 rounds are used. When less than 20 rounds are used the following is used:
Total Handicap Eligible Rounds => Lowest Number of Rounds Used
1 => 1
2 => 1
3 => 1
4 => 1
5 => 1
6 => 1
7 => 2
8 => 2
9 => 3
10 => 3
11 => 4
12 => 4
13 => 5
14 => 5
15 => 6
16 => 6
17 => 7
18 => 8
19 => 9
20 => 10
For example if you play 10 eligible handicap rounds then your best 3 Handicap Differentials are used to calculate your handicap.
The maximum Handicap is 40.4
